Dear Yarn Lovers:

Thank you for visiting our web page. As the owner of TEXTILES A MANO, I welcome you. Our mission is to provide everyone who loves great yarns with a very unique and high quality selection of products. I personally do all the coloring and will stand behind the Textiles A Mano yarns.

I am inspired by how color appears to me in nature. I use this inspiration to paint on the canvas that is yarn. The pictures that you see on this page reflect some of my inspiration. I take pictures of the colors I see in nature, and then recreate those colors in my yarn.

I have named my Textiles A Mano yarns based the type of yarn, and not based on the color. Most of the yarns are named after cities in the world that the yarn evoked in my mind; some are just whimsical. I do not name the colors because each batch is very small and is hand colored one skein at a time to create a once-in-a-lifetime effect. Please always buy enough for your entire project.

Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thanks!

More about our yarns

These 'once-in-a-lifetime' yarns are hand painted in very small quantites. Each skein is done by hand, which creates variations from skein to skein; the colors are always compatible and the dye is exhausted every time. This means that the yarn you purchase from us will create a unique garment, and that you must buy enough yarn for your project at the outset, as the yarn colors and variations cannot be intentionally repeated.

Washing Instructions

All of our yarns are hand washable and care instructions are provided on the back of the lables. Great care is taken to wash out any remaining dye particles, but some colors 'set' better than others, so you might see some residual dye in the water when you wash your fabric.

Because of this, we recommend the following washing instructions:

  1. Use cold water and very mild soaps that are apropriate for fine fibers.
  2. Soak the garment for a very brief time, and then rinse in clear water.

The first time you wash your garment, you might see a bit of color in the water. Add 1/4 cup of white vinegar to the last rinse.

We also recommend Eucalan, a product we carry, to wash all of our yarns. It is a great washing agent for fine fibers and does not require rinsing. In fact, it should not be rinsed, which will save you time and conserve water!

Note: La Perfecta is a machine washable wool. Use a gentle cycle with like colors for best results.
